DMK Development Group, Atlas Senior Living announce Tennessee joint venture

Atlas Senior Living and DMK Development recently announced a development partnership to build a new community in Lebanon, Tennessee, according to a news release.

The latest joint venture (JV) will bring a “new prototype design” for the 137-unit community including 56independent living units, 57 assisted living units and 24 memory care units to help older adults age in place.

Amenities for the new community will include an indoor pool, bistro-style dining, fitness center, theater and multiple event spaces.

“This new prototype reflects our continued commitment to delivering high-quality senior living communities in high-demand markets. We’re excited to partner again with Atlas Senior Living to bring an innovative, resident-focused community to Lebanon that supports both independence and care at every stage,” DMK Development Group CEO David Kitchen said.

Hillcrest in California announces expansion plan

Senior living community Hillcrest in La Verne, California is both expanding and connecting its campus with a new element that will include a new neighborhood and renovations, according to a news release.

The effort will add direct pedestrian access between dining, wellness and residential areas at the community.

The new Gateway neighborhood will include seven, single-family homes of independent living with access to on-campus services. Each home will include approximately 1,600 square-feet, two car garages, modern layouts with open kitchens and single-level layouts, according to the news release.

Construction is expected to be completed between the fall and winter of next year.

Benchmark Senior Living starts on $22M renovation

Benchmark Senior Living announced plans for a $22 million renovation and expansion at Cabot Park Village, according to a news release.

The project is designed by Bechtel Frank Erickson Architects. Cabot Park Village opened in 1996, and the renovation project will modernize the interior spaces through a collaboration with Merlino Design Partnership. The design includes updated finishes with rich hues, custom millwork, stone fireplaces and warm wood accents, the news release states.

The first floor of the community will include a redesigned lobby, a new bistro, and a lounge with a fireplace. Social spaces including a movie theater, lecture hall and a club room are also part of the project. Wellness is also part of the remodeling effort, including a refreshed interior pool, fitness center and expanded health club, spa and massage room.

As part of the project, the community’s library is also being redesigned. Another element includes expanded dining spaces for restaurant-style service.

RiverSpring Living starts on New York City’s first life plan community

Nonprofit senior living provider RiverSpring Living has started construction on the River’s Edge, a new life plan community near New York City, according to a news release.

River’s Edge will include luxury residences for people 62 and older, spanning the 32-acre campus.

The community will include “high-end residences” included with resort-style amenities.

“River’s Edge will redefine aging in New York City, offering a dynamic, engaging lifestyle in a setting that is both luxurious and deeply supportive as health needs change,” said RiverSpring Living CEO and President David Pomeranz.

Cedarhurst Senior Living starts construction in Indiana

Cedarhurst Senior Living announced the start of construction at a new community in Columbus, Indiana, according to a news release.

Cedarhurst of Columbus will include 84,500 square-feet of space including 60 assisted living apartments and 27 memory care apartments. The community is expected to open in the summer of next year.

The new community includes a fitness center, yoga studio and wellness programming alongside chef-led dining. Cedarhurst of Columbus is expected to open mid-2027.

Lutheran Life Communities starts construction in Indiana

Lutheran Life Communities announced the start of construction on Wittenberg Village, a senior living community in Crown Point, Indiana, according to a news release.

The expansion project will include new independent living villa homes on the community’s 47-acre campus.

The villas will include open floor plans with attached garages and private patios. The new residences will be part of a walkable neighborhood with access to dining and wellness programming, the news release states.

Nonprofit senior living provider Transforming Age recently announced the opening of a new independent living community, according to a news release.

The community, Parkshore Juanita Bay, received Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) platinum-certification for energy efficiency.

“Parkshore Juanita Bay reflects what’s possible when mission, sustainability, and innovation come together,” said Transforming Age President and CEO Torsten Hirche. “This community carries forward a proud nonprofit legacy that began nearly a century ago while setting a new standard for how older adults live today and into the future.”

The community includes rooftop solar panels and energy efficient systems, along with rainwater being collected at the community. Other amenities include electric vehicle charging ports. The community also preserved and restored the Juanita Bay creek and wetlands.

Transforming Age’s development arm GSI oversaw the project and the community was designed by Perkins Eastman with “interiors shaped to bring the outdoors in, maximize natural light, and integrate seamlessly with the surrounding wetlands and parkland.”

The community includes 50 independent living units, all of which are filled upon opening. The community also includes space for the German Consulate, in recognition of the German Retirement Home’s origins.
